The present article aims to bring reflections on the Pikler Approach, raising historical questions, proposing comparisons in relation to traditional models and, more sharply, seeking to understand the relationships between theory and practice in the teaching and learning process. In many moments, we discredit the abilities of babies and young children, believing that their autonomy, knowledge construction and observation of the world occurs only after they have reached an older age, between 4 and 5 years, for example. However, the Pikler Approach offers us other ways of thinking and acting, understanding babies and young children as subjects of their learning, considering them in their specificities. To carry out the research, bibliographic studies were carried out, with emphasis on the author Judit Falk (2010; 2011; 2013) and interviews with two educators who use the Pikler Approach in their educational practices.
