Abstract

This study analyzes the interdependence between capital and knowledge as determining factors for the survival and success of small businesses in the service sector in Brazil. The research, qualitative and theoretical-conceptual in nature, is based on an integrative review of the literature published between 2000 and 2025, encompassing both classical and contemporary authors in management and entrepreneurship. The results show that the synergy between financial resources and technical/managerial competencies not only strengthens competitiveness but also enhances innovation capacity, customer loyalty, and organizational longevity. The study also highlights the role of local entrepreneurial ecosystems, public policies, and digital transformation as mediating elements that reinforce this balance. It is concluded that capital and knowledge should be understood as strategic and interdependent pillars for business sustainability in an environment marked by volatility and accelerated technological change.
