INNOVATION EFFORTS AND INSTITUTIONAL OBSTACLES: A STUDY OF LATIN AMERICAN ENTERPRISES

Enterprises into emerging economies context are likely to quickly understand dynamism of environment that affects their perspectives of survival, which is why they often copy linear market strategies, with some inertia in resources management to generate innovation. Technology and innovation efforts adoption for products, services and processes development are one of the biggest factors to enhance business success and competitiveness. Thus, this article examines institutional factors influencing innovative efforts in enterprises from emerging economies. To this end, methodological delimitation is characterized as quantitative explanatory research, from secondary data collected into The World Bank's Enterprise Survey database in the last 20 years (2000-2020). For composing analysis unit, only enterprises installed in Latin American countries that answered questions related to their innovation efforts in the last three years were selected, comprising 14,064 enterprises as final sample. The data were organized and interpreted using Microsoft Excel software, for table preparation to be used in SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) through simple descriptive statistics. Findings indicate that institutional factors influence innovation efforts in enterprises from emerging economies.
